FAREWELL PARTY FOR TEACHER’S TRAINING

STAGING

The writer focuses on how staging which is concerned with bringing all the aspects of production from planning to implementation of the event for Teachers training farewell party held at Thokgamo Restaurant. Bowdin, Allen, O’Toole, Harris and McDonnell(2007) have identified factors of staging namely audience / guests and choice of venue.

Audience and guests: Further work by Bowdin et al (2007) emphasised on the positions of the entrants , exits and arrival times. The event had reserving methods for the VIP that is a VIP table and the rest of the audience . At this event, the guests arrived before the agreed time. This then affected the preparation as everything was done under pressure.

Choice of venue:  Allen (2009) has alluded that event planners need to make a careful selection of a venue before anything else, as the venue will give the visuals on how the set ups will be as it might affect the decorations. The event was held in a restaurant and the number booked ended up increasing. Hence the venue could not accommodate the new number.

Ultimately, the whole class achieved a successful outcome, but to improve the process, perhaps there was need to have a chairperson to help encourage communication of new numbers are shared out well in time so that the venue could suit the number increased and the setup, like making use of the terrace.
